There are several web sites that can help you to find out what is wanted. One such site for example is Google trends. Another example would be YouTube trends. You can also look at auction sites like eBay.com and see what is selling.

Another excellent tool is the Google keywords tool. It tells you exactly what people are searching for and the search volume and also the advertiser competition. You do not want to enter a market with no competition. If there is competition, it usually means that somebody is making money with it.

One way to make money online involves affiliate programs. That means you do not have to worry about shipping goods – the company will handle all that for you. The disadvantage is that you have less control, but if you make sure that you pick the right products and the right company, you can definitely make money with affiliate programs.
